Largest Global Green Business Ideas Competition kicks off 2018 edition

Amsterdam, January 29th, 2018 – ClimateLaunchpad is the world’s leading green business ideas competition. It is set up to help aspiring entrepreneurs grow their green ideas into global businesses. The competition is now open for applications. ClimateLaunchpad welcomes innovations in renewable energy, energy efficiency, food and agriculture, water, transportation, industrial technology or any other way to tackle climate change.

Frans Nauta, founder of ClimateLaunchpad: “Climate change is solvable. Not with one cure, we need – and there will be – thousands of big and small cures. That’s why ClimateLaunchpad boosts aspiring green entrepreneurs to global success. We train them and give them international stage. Our mission? Fixing climate change, one start-up at a time.

Founded in 2014, the competition has grown from European to global coverage. Last year countries like Australia, India, Azerbaijan and Kenya joined ClimateLaunchpad and over a 1,000 green ideas were entered. The 2018 edition runs in at least 35 countries across the globe.

Since 2016, Turkey is part of the competition and in its very first year with The Team Sponge won Second Place and Audience Award in Tallinn. In 2017 , Finalist teams participated  the Grand Finale and theme awards in Limassol, Cyprus.

In all participating countries, selected participants start off their rigorous training with a 2-day Boot Camp and six Coaching Sessions to prepare for their National Finals. The top-3 of all competing countries will battle the Global Grand Final in November 2018.

The world’s top-10 best ideas win access to the Climate-KIC’s Accelerator, a programme focused at cleantech commercialization. The overall winner of the Grand Final also receives a cash prize of €10,000, the runner up gets €5,000 and the team that comes in third place wins €2,500.

For 2018, applications are open . On  https://climatelaunchpad.org/application-form/ website you can submit your application until 18th June 2018.

2-day Boot Camp will be take place on 30th June-1st Julywith the selected teams. Following up sessions and boot camp will prepare the teams for the National Finals and Grand Finale in November 2018.
